EULiST goes to Rhodes
EULiST travelled to Rhodes, Greece, to participate in the 37th International Conference on Efficiency, Cost, Optimization, Simulation and environmental Impact of Energy Systems ECOS 2024, between June 30th and July 5th.
EULiST was active in the Conference with two joint papers presented by Sotirios Karellas and Irene Koronaki:
- “EULiST BIP courses: Transformative education for sustainable campuses in Europe”, by Sotirios Karellas, Katerina Adam, Efi Dimopoulou, Irene Koronaki, Eleni Alexandrou, Antonia Lampropoulou. This initiative empowered interdisciplinary education that was implemented through the first EULiST Blended Intensive Program on “Monitoring Clean Energy in the EULiST campuses”, emphasizing renewable energy assessment and monitoring, enhancing sustainable campuses across Europe. The work was performed in the context of EULiST Tasks 2.1 and 2.4.
- “Harmonizing higher education and sustainability: a holistic exploration of EULiST campus practices and SDGs incorporation”, by Katerina Adam, Sotirios Karellas, Irene Koronaki, Eleni Alexandrou, Martin Očko, Michal Buril, Antoine Fricard, Ingrid Bazin, Nerrolyn Ramstrand, Linda Olsson, Stephanie Mittrach, Christina von Haaren, Regina Nogueira, Hanna-Leena Ottelin, Risto Soukka, Laura Olkkonen, Maria Najarro, Maros Finka, Natália Gurská, Peter Klimáček, Anna Tozzi, Schubert, Chris Sabine Neff. This initiative explored how EULiST universities are pivotal in promoting global sustainability by incorporating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into their campus operations and management, academic programs, and research initiatives. The work was performed in the context of EULiST Tasks 1.5 and 2.4.
The EULiST students and researchers who met at the International Conference ECOS2024 exchanged views and experiences on the challenges and successes they face at their universities, particularly regarding the integration of the SDGs into academic and administrative practices. The interest shown by the conference attendees was notably high, with many expressing a desire to participate in future projects and collaborations under the auspices of EULiST.
